A Year in Review | 2019
ParsonsKellogg has been recognized as one of Providence Business News’ Fastest Growing Companies
In September of this year it was announced that ParsonsKellogg was recognized as one of Providence Business News’ Fastest Growing Companies for the third consecutive year. This prestigious program highlights the region’s “fastest growing companies and those that are especially innovative in developing new processes, products and services that improve competitiveness and spur growth.” Our spot on this list for the third year motivates us to keep the momentum going as we enter the upcoming year.
Growing Services & Capabilities
To support our growing business, we have also grown our services and capabilities! We grew internally this year by increasing our team from about 60 employees to 89 employees (and counting), grew our headquarters to 51,000 square feet, and expanded our capabilities. This growth has allowed us to expand our in-house decorating services to include embroidery, screen printing, laser engraving, and heat transfer. This growth has also allowed us to expand our e-commerce capabilities and launch three websites including Custom Gear, PK Health Gear, and GameDay Gear.
Matt Cariglio Golf Tournament
This year we held our 7th Annual Matt Cariglio Memorial Golf Tournament, a tradition honoring the life of cancer victim Matt Cariglio. Matt was a beloved member of the PK family that we celebrate in remembrance at the Misquamicut Club annually in May. The tournament was a success and day filled with golf, good times, and support of a great initiative.
PK Team Events
With our team continuously growing throughout the past year, we made an effort to have more team bonding events than ever before. Some of our larger events included bowling nights, our quarterly cookout that included food trucks and outdoor games, and a Halloween costume contest. Our new and improved PK bar area that was completed in November has become the team hang out spot after hours and now offers shuffleboard, ping pong, and darts for some friendly competition. Our largest and most exciting event of the year is our company holiday party that took place at The Guild in Pawtucket, RI. The party featured craft brews, Southern style eats, live music, and a night of celebrating a record year as a team.
Environmental & Social Responsibility Initiatives
We pushed our initiatives forward in 2019 by formally launching The Galilee Project. The Galilee Project has been an internal initiative since 2004 that encourages employees to pay goodness forward in the community with internal rewards. We have further promoted this concept by expanding outside of our internal team rewards to support our charitable outreach. Some of the projects our team has worked on through The Galilee Project include partnering with Boys Town New England, We Share Hope, 1 % for the Planet, and more. This holiday season we partnered with Boys Town New England, a local non-profit that provides an array of services and support to children and families, through our Giving Tree to provide gifts to those in need.
